The Chamba figures are rare, and generally of a very crude style
without any relief. The originality of this piece lies in its
movement, the face (with its characteristic crest) and the shoulders
projected ahead, while preserving a pure and geometric style.
This object was dedicated to the ancestors' cult and to the
« first mother » altar, and was used for divination and
healing rites (therapeutic uses).
18th / 19th century or earlier.
